“Yarnival” Festival
YARNIVAL NEWS: MAY 2026
“Wow!! what a fabulous 8 days we had! After 20 months of preparation by over 100 contributors to the displays, it all came together.
The church looked ‘amazing’ – at least that’s what our visitors kept saying. We were pleased to welcome 492 people into our church who were ministered to by 42 people on the ‘staffing’ rota. We raised a staggering £2265.00 for our funds. Yarnival certainly exceeded all our expectations, although we probably didn’t have any in the beginning.
Our thanks go to everyone who contributed to the displays or helped during Yarnival. It was a truly wonderful experience and who knows what plans God might have for all those visitors? We may see some of them again”.

This special exhibition showcases handcrafted work made by members of the St Giles congregation and our local community. From knitting and crochet to other yarn-based crafts “Yarnival” is a celebration of skill and shared creativity. Whether you’re a maker yourself or just love beautiful handmade work, we do hope you’ll find time to visit, get inspired and enjoy this wonderful community exhibition.

YARNIVAL
Our Festival of Yarn, now called Yarnival, was launched at Crafty Cuppa on 14th January. Jean Newson, who is chief coordinator, introduced it to those attending. Initially there will be 5 group coordinators, who will oversee the first dioramas that we aim to complete by June 2025. There was much excitement in the room and people were already sharing ideas.
